How the estimate works
The traditional-provider figure uses Ontario-licensed paralegals, at CA$150–CA$350 per hour (published Ontario paralegal billing rates, 2026.) Assuming roughly 50 pages an hour for chronology preparation (reading, extracting, drafting) and 200 pages an hour for manual pagination and indexing. Real quotes vary — treat this as a sanity check, not a quotation.
The Med-Legal figure is simply the fixed price: a Chronology & Medical Summary is 1 document unit and an Indexed & Paginated Bundle is 4 units, at CA$25 per unit falling to CA$8 at volume — whether the records are 100 pages or 5,000.
